Waldorf Salad
A Waldorf salad is a salad generally made of fresh apples, celery, grapes and walnuts, dressed in mayonnaise, and usually served on a bed of lettuce as an appetizer or a light meal. Some prefer their Waldorf salad made with yogurt, instead of mayonnaise. If you substitute yogurt for mayonnaise; you may need to add some honey to soften the tartness of the yogurt. The original recipe did not contain nuts, but they had been added over time. Other ingredients are sometimes added (such as turkey, chicken, dried fruit, etc.) You may also add the zest or lemons or oranges to suit your taste.
